Sending SMS messages server-side

Help with the Esendex API

Sending SMS messages server-side

Postby DaveJ » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:14 pm

Hi,

I have a requirement for an SMS alert system in my company's web application. When the alert is triggered, the server-side application simply needs to send several (~10) SMS messages. There is no client-side interface, the alert system is all server-side. The application is developed in PHP.

My question is simply what Esendex packages would I need to complete this task and what method would I use?

I will not be receiving SMS messages just sending periodically.

Thank you,

Hi DaveJ,

I hope I understand your question correctly!

What you'd need to do is have the application make an API call to any of the available API's. How you do this is up to you and you'll need to read the API documentation. The easiest way I can see to do this is use the existing platform (PHP) and create a script that then makes a HTTP request to the Essendex API to send the SMS(s).

If you're inexperienced with working with API's I suggest you explore the option of using the Essendex PHP SDK found here: http://www.esendex.co.uk/Developers/SDKs/PHP-SMS-SDK as this should hopefully give you a helping hand.

Luke
