Can I change the originator of the message?

Postby Leanne » Thu Mar 04, 2010 1:06 pm

By default messages are sent from the virtual mobile number that is assigned to your account when you set it up if you have a two way service. If you have a broadcast account the default sender is 'WebSMS'.

The service alias feature in the options page allows you to change this to either 11 alphanumeric characters or 15 numbers such as your company name, department, own mobile number, or a campaign. If you enter in a valid mobile number, all replies will go back to that handset instead of your account. When the recipient receives your SMS they will see this name rather than a virtual mobile number or set originator. If alphanumeric characters are used the recipient won't be able to reply. Unlike other messaging providers, we provide this service for free.

Hello,

To change the originator of your message please sign in to Web SMS select "Switch to Classic View" > "Options". From here please tick the "Service Aliasing" box you will find on this screen and place in the alias you wish to set in this box. Finally, save any new changes you make.

If you need any further help please let me know.

Many thanks,

Leanne

I can't see the "Service Aliasing" box in the Options of the Classic View. Is this because I just signed up for a test account?

Also, I have added some contacts and groups and if I "Switch to Classic View" the Contact and Groups pages are empty so I cannot export (Download) the contacts.

Is this normal or all of this will be activated when I sign up for a paying account?

Thanks.

Hi Aureli,

At the moment you will not be able to see the service aliasing option due to your account being set to an evaluation account. Please can you send me an email to support@esendex.com with your account detaills and I will then get this changed for you.

The products Echo and Classic Web sms currently do not have the abilty to share contacts stored on both accounts. This is something we will be working on in the future though.

I look forward to receiving your email.

Many thanks,

Leanne

Hi Neil,

If you are currently using Echo you will find the option to send from an alias by typing the originator into the "From" box whilst in the compose and send screen.
If you are using web sms classic please go to your options menu. There will be an tab called "general". You should find the service aliasing feature there.

If you experience any further problems please send an email into support@esendex.com with your account details and i will try my best to help you.

Many thanks,

Leanne
